A living manifesto

The Emeli Paulo
Life Design Manifesto

Not a coaching workbook. The operating system for the life I'm deliberately designing — aspirational, honest, occasionally cheeky, deeply grounded in my values, and impossible to mistake for anyone else's.

00

My North Star

I design the conditions for myself and others to reconnect, belong and flourish, while living a deeply joyful, courageous and financially abundant life that honours my ancestors, my communities and the generations still to come.

Or even bolder

I refuse to spend my one wild, beautiful life surviving. I'm here to build a life, a business and a legacy where people genuinely belong — starting with me.

01

This is my life.

Not my LinkedIn profile.

Not my five-year business plan.

Not someone else's definition of success.

Mine.

This is the life I'm intentionally designing.

One decision. One relationship. One awkward conversation. One ridiculously brave leap at a time.

I'm allowed to change it.

I'm allowed to outgrow it.

I'm allowed to dream bigger than the version of me who wrote the last draft.

02

My Intersectional Principles

What I come home to whenever capitalism whispers, “Just work harder.”

  1. 01

    Community before competition.

I don't want to win alone.

If my success comes at the cost of my community, I've misunderstood success.

  2. 02

    Relationships are the work.

Not networking. Not collecting business cards. Not “adding value”.

Real relationships. Trust. Repair. Laughter. Shared meals. Showing up.

Being remembered because people felt seen.

  3. 03

My nervous system is not a machine.

I'm not here to optimise myself into exhaustion.

Rest isn't a reward. Movement isn't punishment. Regulation isn't optional.

My body is my first home. I protect it accordingly.

  4. 04

Wealth is a tool. Not my identity.

Money buys choices. Choices create freedom.

Freedom creates generosity. Generosity builds community.

    That's the point.

  5. 05

My ancestors belong in the room.

I don't leave my culture at the boardroom door.

My Pasifika identity isn't branding. It's the lens through which I understand leadership, reciprocity, belonging and responsibility.

  6. 06

    Lived experience is expertise.

Degrees matter. Research matters. Community knowledge matters too.

I'm interested in wisdom. Not hierarchy.

  7. 07

I design with people. Never for people.

People are not problems to fix.

They're experts in their own lives.

  8. 08

    Joy is strategy.

Dance. Music. Food. Humour. Friendship. Adventure.

None of these are distractions. They're why I'm doing any of this in the first place.

03

My Dream Life

I wake up excited about ordinary Tuesdays.

My calendar reflects my values instead of my anxiety.

My body feels strong. I swim. I dance. I walk. I laugh so hard I snort. Frequently.

I have a beautiful home filled with plants, books, music and people who don't need to pretend.

Money isn't the first thing I think about every morning. Neither is work. I have enough. More than enough.

My business creates incredible impact. But it doesn't consume my life.

I'm deeply in love. Not because someone completes me. Because we choose each other, every day.

My friendships are rich. My family relationships are honest. Repair happens quickly. Love is obvious.

I travel often. Not to escape my life. Because I've built one worth returning to.

04

My Wheel of Life

Ten areas. One whole life.

Health

I want a body that lets me fully participate in my own life. Not a body that meets someone else's beauty standard.

Success looks like

  • Feeling energetic
  • Sleeping deeply
  • Dancing for hours
  • Walking without pain
  • Swimming regularly
  • Strong muscles, strong heart
  • A regulated nervous system
  • Feeling at home in my body

Wealth

Money becomes boring. That's the dream.

Success looks like

  • Bills are paid
  • Savings grow
  • Investments compound
  • Giving feels joyful
  • Business becomes sustainable
  • My wealth creates options, not stress

Love

Deep, reciprocal love — the kind where I don't have to shrink, perform, over-function or prove I'm worthy.

Success looks like

  • We're a team
  • We laugh
  • We flirt
  • We repair
  • We build a beautiful life together

Friendships

My friendships feel like home.

Success looks like

  • Less networking
  • More backyard dinners
  • More beach walks
  • More dancing
  • More “I've got you.”

Family

We tell the truth. We repair what matters.

Success looks like

  • We honour our ancestors
  • We create new traditions
  • The cycle changes with me

Community

People don't just attend events. They find belonging.

Success looks like

  • Communities know one another
  • Support one another
  • Create together
  • Celebrate together
  • Grieve together

Work

I don't chase every opportunity. I choose the right ones.

Success looks like

  • My work changes systems
  • My books outlive me
  • My workshops become movements
  • People leave saying, “I see things differently now.”

Adventure

A life worth returning to.

Success looks like

  • Passport used often
  • Ocean nearby
  • Music loud
  • Curiosity always packed

Play

This one isn't optional anymore.

Success looks like

  • Dance
  • Live music
  • Festivals
  • Road trips
  • Ridiculous memes
  • Bad karaoke
  • Excellent food

Home

A sanctuary.

Success looks like

  • Warm
  • Creative
  • Welcoming
  • Plants everywhere
  • Music playing
  • People dropping in
05

My Three Greatest Strengths

01

I connect what everyone else keeps separate.

People. Ideas. Industries. Communities. Stories. That's my superpower.

02

I help people feel deeply seen.

That's why they trust me. That's why transformation happens.

03

I turn complexity into something people can actually practise.

Ideas don't change lives. Practice does.

06

My Three Greatest Growth Edges

01

Finish before I invent.

Apparently I don't need seventeen new ideas before breakfast. One excellent idea implemented beats fifty brilliant ideas parked in Notes.

02

Receive as confidently as I give.

Support. Money. Love. Opportunities. Compliments. I'm practising saying, “Thank you.” Without immediately making it weird.

03

Build systems that don't require me to hold the whole bloody universe together.

Future Em deserves that. Current Em needs it.

07

What I'm Pruning & Weaving

Pruning

Letting these go.

  • Constant urgency
  • Scarcity thinking
  • People-pleasing
  • Over-functioning
  • Perfectionism dressed up as “high standards”
  • Projects that don't align
  • Relationships that only exist in one direction
  • Saying yes before checking in with myself

Weaving

Bringing these together.

  • Health into business
  • Friendship into leadership
  • Joy into productivity
  • Culture into strategy
  • Community into wealth
  • Rest into ambition
  • Play into purpose
  • Love into everyday life
  • Business into service
  • Ancient wisdom into modern systems
08

What I'm Consolidating

One life. One philosophy. Many expressions.

Everything I build belongs to the same ecosystem.

My books. CxCD. SoCo. Speaking. Facilitation. Community. Research. Writing.

They aren't separate businesses. They're different doors into the same house.

And that house is built on one belief:

People flourish when the conditions around them make connection, courage and collective care possible.
